Narayana

Narayana

One of names of Lord Vishnu. It has several interpretations: "Moving over the Waters" (title of  Lord Vishnu in his aspect of the Holy Spirit moving over the Waters of Creation) and "connected with people" (reflects his role as protector of people).

One of yogic interpretations of this name is "that which is immutable in man", i.e. Atman ("nara" is man, "ayana" is immovable, eternal). According to another version – the one who is inside everyone, or the one who is in the "causal reality" (naraḥ).
